Excel Sport

For over 30 years, Excel Sport has been a trusted environment where children develop not only as footballers, but as people. We coach over 1,500 children every week, making us one of the largest and most established coaching organisations in North London and South Hertfordshire.

Excel Sport is widely recognised as a respected training ground and maintains strong links with professional clubs including Chelsea FC, Arsenal FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Fulham FC, Watford FC, Brighton & Hove Albion FC and Barnet FC.

Each season, a small number of children progress to train within professional academy environments. However, the majority attend Excel Sport to enjoy football, improve their skills, build confidence, and develop life skills that extend far beyond sport, whether that is at school, grassroots clubs, or in everyday life.

At Excel Sport, football is a vehicle for learning, not simply competition. Through our Development League, children learn to think, adapt, and problem-solve within the game.
We prioritise:

In practice, this means children are encouraged to learn what to do, not be told what to do, a principle that supports independence, confidence, and responsibility.

Every child is developed across five interconnected areas, introduced progressively and at age-appropriate stages:
* Technical – ball mastery and skill execution
* Tactical – understanding space, movement, and choices
* Physical – agility, balance, coordination, and speed
* Social – communication, teamwork, respect, and leadership
* Psychological – confidence, resilience, emotional control, and focus
Alongside football development, children naturally build *life skills such as self-belief, decision-making, discipline, empathy, and resilience — skills that support learning, relationships, and wellbeing beyond the pitch.
This approach aligns fully with *he FA Four Corners Mode, ensuring balanced long-term development rather than early pressure or short-term results.
